Medium Router Table Stand

These are the directions for assembling the medium size router table kit.  These are very
simple.  This kit consists of all the parts you need to make a stable stand for the router table.
Since the router table already has a wood base, attaching to the base is straightforward.
Here are a couple of details that are worth mentioning.
  • The stand does not have pre-drilled with holes.  Why you ask?  The design is so that
the builder (you) can have choices for your joinery.  If you want to simply screw the
holes together you can.  If the idea of screws showing makes you cringe, you can brad
nail the assembly.  Others may not want anything showing and would prefer to glue.
This is why we do not pre-drill any holes in the stand.
  • The stand is pre-cut and sized.  All you have to do is follow the directions.
  • This stand is made from birch ply with double faced maple top veneer.
  • You may elect to do some additional sanding.
  • The ply is cabinet grade and can be finished if you like.
  • The screws supplied are for the legs to be attached to the base of the router table.

The simplicity of the stand is taken into effect to keep the cost down.  You can easily mount
your own shelf into the stand with your own supplies.
Refer to these dimensions for assembly

(4) Long legs   30” x 2 ½”

(4) Long legs   30 x 1 ¾”

(2) Long sides  23 ¼” x 2 ½"

(2) Short sides  17 ½” x 2 ½”
Leg Assembly
Select a long leg 2 ½” section and a long leg 1 ¾” section.  Line them up as shown in the
picture.
Attach them in your preferred method, either glue, brad nail, or screw together.  Make sure
you ensure they stay at 90 degrees
Sides

Next take the two leg assemblies and lay them facing each other.  Measure from the bottom
15” and make a tick mark on each leg assembly. (this is for the shelf/side supports, if you want
them higher use whatever measurement you want)  Take the short side 17 ½” x 2/12 and line
up the wood with the tick mark so that they are even.  Attach in your preferred method. (if you
use screws, use a 1 ¼” wood screw)
Repeat this with the long sides.  In essence you are making a small framed box.  The top of
the box connects the the base frame of the router table.
Make sure the legs fit inside of the base of the table.  Use screws to attach to the router table
base.  A bolt through the base with a nut and washer will also work very well.
 Do not
tighten completely
.
Turn unit right side up (carefully so that the insert
does not fall out of the table) and place on floor.
Tighten the screws or bolts so that the table does not
wobble.  If your floor or work surface is slightly off,
you may need to make adjustments, this is normal.
